1992   Dr Mae C. Jemison, a physician, became the first African American Woman to go into Space.
She was a Mission Specialist on STS-47 which was the 50th space flight of NASA’s Space Shuttle Program. It was the space shuttle Endeavour’s second flight. During over 190 hours she spent in space, she conducted experiments on weightlessness and motion sickness.




2001 Due to the terrorist attacks on the United States, President George W. Bush called the attacks "acts of war" against the United States and announced a war against terrorism, vowing to "find those responsible and bring them to justice" and told the nation that a search for those responsible was already underway. NATO, the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, supported the presidents call for military action.


1940 Four teenagers, 18 year old Marcel Ravidat, Jacques Marsal, Georges Agnel, and Simon Coencas following their dog down a hole near Lascaux France, discovered a 17,000-year-old drawings
now known as Lascaux Cave Paintings

Date of birth: 12th September 1973
Profession: Actor
He was the star of The Fast and the Furious film franchise. He was filming the 7th film "Furious 7" when he died in a car accident in 2013.
In July 2017, the tribute single to Walker "See You Again" by Wiz Khalifa off the "Furious 7" sountrack, beicame YouTube's most watched video with 2.894 billion views.



Jesse Owens
Date of birth: 12th September 1913
Profession: Track and Field Athlete
He is considered the greatest and most famous athlete in track and field history.
In less than an hour at the 1935 Big Ten track meet in Ann Arbor, Michigan, He set three world records and tied another in what has been called "the greatest 45 minutes ever in sport" and has never been equaled.
Owens won four gold medals in the 1936 Olympic games in Berlin, Germany. As the most successful athlete at the games he single-handedly crushed Hitler's myth of Aryan supremacy.
He died of cancer of the lungs in 1980
